World’s Largest Yellow Pear Shape Diamond
We’ve seen an explosion of colored gems on the runway during Awards season and sales on sapphires have risen since Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with Diana’s ring.
But it’s not just gems that are available with a boost of color. It’s also diamonds! And now, fans of unique stones are getting a chance to see one of the largest.
The Natural History Museum in London is displaying a yellow diamond weighing more than 110 carats. Called the “Sun Drop,” it’s pear cut, roughly the size of a woman’s thumb and one of the largest in the world.
Smaller versions (assuming you do not have the budget of a major urban museum) are available for wedding rings and could be a great option. There are also blue diamonds, pink diamonds, and black diamonds.
